Rockmelons are in good supply, peaches and nectarines and plums are very good quality, best of the season so far.  Mangoes, cherries and apricots are about to come to the end of season.  Avocadoes are still very short in supply and high in price.  This should improve over the next two weeks.  New season lemons have arrived at the markets and we are about 2 weeks away for new season apples and pears.  Unfortunately, herbs are very short due to the heat.  Grapes have improved in supply and prices are starting to ease.

Most vegetable lines have been affected by the big heat wave all over the east coast, supply is very short and prices tend to be high.  Market can be tough this time of year and we are doing our best to buy the best products available.  Improvements will come over the next few months.

Most vegetable lines affected by big heat wave all over the east coast, supply is very short and prices high, no relief until next month very tough going, quality is poor.  All fruit lines are stable apart from Mangoes, season nearly done, apples and pears are last seasons and supply is nearly all exhausted.  Avocadoes are very short in supply as no fruit arrives in Australia from NZ for about 2-3 weeks over the Xmas break (200,000 trays plus) short supply.  WA fruit has finished and new season Shepards from North Qld are about 3 weeks away.  New season Apples, pears are also about 3 weeks away.  Plums, peaches, nectarines and rockmelons are in good supply now.

Vegetable supply has increased a little and some lines are beginning to ease in price this week.  Cauliflower and broccoli are still high in price and we are expecting them to come back in price next week.  Tomatoes are in very short supply with prices high.  Stanthorpe should be harvesting soon, so we can expect some relief with prices and quality.  All stone fruit lines are in good supply with quality improving.  All melon lines are in short supply with prices high due to summer demand.  Grape supply is increasing with prices expected to ease next week.

Stanthorpe should be harvesting soon, so we can expect some relief with prices and quality.  Some of our Vegetable lines are still short in supply with stock coming from Victoria.  All stone fruit lines are in good supply with quality improving.  We have a small supply of Cherries today, and I’ve personally tested them and they are amazing.

Short Supply and high in price– Gourmet Tomatoes, Cauliflower, Broccoli, Green Caps, Figs, Avocadoes.

Relief in pricing – Zucchini, beans, Strawberries, limes, mangoes, oranges.

Good News:  All Stone fruit lines are in good supply.  Quality is improving daily.  Cherries are even at the market, they are expensive as they are early season, but the prices will drop over the next few weeks.  Some Vegetable lines are still very short in supply.  Herbs in particular are badly affected by rain.

Fresh Produce Update Thursday 2^nd November 2017

Of Interest:  Fruit – Mango season is in full swing with the quality and supply exceptional.  Stonefruit is also at the market but it is still early season and not the sweetest.  Apricots, Cherries and Plums will start next week and the peaches and nectarines will be better again.  Berries are still weather affected but improving.  We should have full supply of Australian Grapes in a few weeks.  Vegetables – There is not much change in the market on the veggie front, still a lack of supply and the quality is only average.  There should be a slight relief when Stanthorpe starts in a few weeks.

Of Interest:  Thai Eggplant in stock, check out our Instagram to see how beautiful it is.   Figs are slowly coming into season but very expensive at the moment.  We have a limited supply in stock.  The summer fruit season is just starting with cherries and all other stone fruit not far away.  There are plenty of peaches and nectarines but they aren’t at their sweetest yet, they will improve more over the next few weeks.  Rain has affected some melon lines and berry lines.  Mangoes were eating well until the weather event started affecting North Qld, so we will wait and see what happens.   Vegetables – Heavy rain in all growing areas will restrict supply for most lines of vegetables.  Prices will rise and quality will deteriorate, expect there will be major changes at the market and it will be very volatile for the next few weeks.  Rain Rain go Away!!

Fresh Produce Update Thursday 26^th October 2017

Good News:  Stone fruit and Mangoes are in good supply and its looking like we are in for a bumper season!!

Not so good news:  Rain!!!! While it’s great for the farmers initially, extended rains can have a devastating effect on fresh produce.  Rain in North Queensland has damaged all melon crops, seedless watermelon, rockmelon and honeydew, therefore they are all very light in supply and prices are high.  The heavy rain has affected about 80% of all produce, supply is very light and quality is poor.  This trend will continue for at least a couple of weeks and possibly up to Christmas.  Go to our FB page to see the ABC rural report that was recently done in regards to the local supply.  They have interviewed our market buyer Alwyn.

Of Interest:  Noosa Earth is suppling our Oyster Mushrooms and they are beautiful, please pre-order to ensure supply.  Edible Flowers are locally grown on the Sunshine Coast and are in peak season, so supply is plentiful.  We can also supply cut micro herbs that are organically grown and from our local Sunshine Coast supplier.

Tomatoes are well priced and great quality at the moment.  Snow peas and Zucchini, may firm up a little in price this week due to a lighter supply.  Most other vegetables should remain stable.  Hot weather this week could effect some lines.  Bananas and seedless melon are in short supply and prices are expected to firm up.  It’s that time of year when Avocadoes are in short supply as the Australian season ends, NZ avocadoes will be on the market in the next couple of weeks.  Be aware prices are rising.

Of Interest:  As the good weather continues in the growing areas there are not a lot of changes in the Vegetable lines, most supply is good and pricing is good too.  Mandarins are slowing down in supply with the season coming to a close.  Navel oranges are firming up in prices and new season Valencia is arriving.  The Mango season is looking to be a bumper season as the good weather continues and the supply to the market is increasing all the time.  Avocadoes are firming up in price, but with spring here it is the best time for all fruits and vegetables.
