Produce Updates
June 15th (2017)
Of Interest:
Winter is a great time for citrus with lemons, oranges, mandarins and tangelos all good value and in great supply at the markets. Tropical and exotic fruits are also flourishing with pomegranate, quinces, custard apples, feijoa, rambutans, dragon fruit, persimmons, chestnuts, star fruit, nashi fruit and guava all currently available. Tomatoes are still high and there won’t be any relief for another 2 weeks when we expect the supply to increase which will ease prices. The cold and wet weather will make some vegetables firm up in price. Herbs are still in short supply in particular Coriander and Basil struggle with the cold weather. Fruit is plentiful and good quality. Expect to pay more for mushrooms next week as the cold weather slows down growth and therefore supply.
