Produce Updates
8 November 2018
The Stone Fruit season is well and truly off to a good start, the fruit is sweet and ripe. Blueberries are in good supply and very affordable at the moment. Qld grown raspberries are beginning to arrive at the markets. The first Lychees of the season have hit the markets. Strawberries from Stanthorpe are in good supply and reducing in price. Bananas continue to be higher priced as storms in North Queensland have affected supply, they are arriving at the markets very green, we are doing our best to ripen them up but they are very green arriving. Limes, lemons and passionfruit are very short in supply and very high in price, the quality of the second lemons are terrible, so we have stopped buying them and are only buying the best we can find.
Wet weather has affected the harvest of root vegetables, so we can expect prices of vegies such as sweet potatoes to increase. Zucchini’s are good buying at the moment, as are herbs like parsley, thyme and coriander.
We are determined to reduce our impact on the environment and you will see a decrease in plastic wrap and bags used to pack your fruit and veggies, some herbs will be packed in bags together, so keep an eye out. If you wish to receive your produce without plastic produce bags please let us know when you order each time so we can ensure this happens everytime.
Please ensure that at the beginning of the week you get your orders in for specialty produce, as we can’t guarantee supply later in the week.
