Fresh Produce Update 29 August 2019
There are very dry conditions in our growing areas, produce coming from the Lockyer Valley is only average due to the lack of rain, making it very difficult to irrigate crops. Stanthorpe are out of water, so we are hoping and praying for some rain soon or the spring and summer crops will be heavily affected. Beautiful berries are at their peak at the moment, with strawberries continuing their fantastic run and blueberries eating well. Also having a strong season are Hass avocados, with top quality supplies arriving from all over Queensland. Imperial mandarins and Packham pears are beautiful, there are also beautiful Australian grapes around. A sure sign that spring is around the corner with Australian Asparagus coming into the markets.
Bananas are short in supply and prices are rising.
Please ensure that at the beginning of the week you get your orders in for specialty produce, as we can’t guarantee supply later in the week.
